BATTLE OF UHUD

 

          The battle of Uhud was fought between the Quresh and Muslims on Hijrah 3 (625 A.D). Uhud is a mountain three miles away from Madina. The army of Quresh consisted of 3000 persons and it was commanded by Abu Sufiyan. The troops was accompanied by several women including Hinda, wife of Abu Sufiyan. Who had lost her father, a brother and an uncle in the battle of Badr. These women beat the tambourine and sang such song that prompted the man to fight. The Muslims army consisted of 1000 persons when they left Madinah. The towards the battlefields, Abdullah bin Ubayy along with 300 hypocrites left the Muslims and went back to Madinah. After the withdrawal of Abdullah bin Ubayy chief of hypocrites, dropped to 700.

          In this battle 70 Muslims were martyred and 40 were wounded. The Idolaters lost 30of their men. Hamza, a dear uncle of Prophet Muhammad SAW, was martyred by slave Wehshi. He is known as Sayyed-ul-Shuhaba.

          In this battle two of the teeth of Prophet Muhammad Saw were martyred. Ubayy bin Khalaf, an Idolater was killed by Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). This was the only person killed by Hazrat Muhammad SAW throughout his Life.
